This is a two-story university building using CLT panel construction method. The building has a 18 x 21.6 m pillarless lecture hall, one of the largest in Japan using the CLT panel construction method, and a transparent canopy made of a composite structure of CLT and steel frame. The CLT and its joints were exposed as much as possible so that the building itself can be used as an educational material, and the plan is designed to allow students and local residents to see the structure of the building and feel the real thrill of manufacturing. For the joints between the foundation and CLT wall panels, various types of STROOG CLT connectors were used, which have a clear stress transmission mechanism for the connectors and can easily absorb installation errors of anchor bolts.
