This is the headquarters office of a specialty tea store relocated from Tokyo to Niseko, a place rich in nature with a close view of Mt.Yotei. Despite the fact that the area receives more than 2 m of snow in winter, the circular plan of the building ensures that the horizontal bearing capacity is satisfied by the perimeter walls, resulting in a flexible and open office space inside the building. The interior spaces are constructed of laminated larch and CLT, and STROOG connectors are used for column foot and shear resistance, creating a simple and beautiful exposed wooden structure.
